There are lots of decisions to make and steps to take when it comes to designing and constructing a custom home. Here is a general outline of our approach:
At our initial meeting, we will discuss your goals and budget for your new home. We’ll also determine if you have secured land and completed a site development plan, or if you need help finding a home site. Based on your answers, we can provide budgets and cost estimates, as well as recommendations for alternative approaches you may not have considered.
The next meeting will include our Minglewood designer. He or she will raise specific questions about the needs of your family and your aesthetic preferences. Our designer will then arrange a time for a site visit to view the property and take any necessary measurements. From there he or she will draw up initial conceptual sketches to present. Your feedback will help the designer fine-tune the plans and draft final design documents.
Alternatively, we are happy to work with your designer and realize the vision you have already developed.
Navigating the process of land use including entitlements, zoning, and permitting can be a daunting undertaking. Minglewood understands the nuances of local land use permitting and can successfully guide you through the process from initial planning applications through the final inspection phase.
We’ll work with you to choose the finishes and fixtures that best fit your tastes, your budget, and your house’s architectural style. The materials we will select include flooring, cabinets, tile, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and appliances.
Once all permitting and zoning is addressed, we can schedule your build. By this point in the process, you’ll have experienced firsthand the way we do things differently than many developers. At the start of your project we will have talked you through the construction milestones you can expect during this phase. When construction begins you can expect walk-throughs at each milestone including the completion of the foundation, rough frame, mechanical and electric, finishes, and final inspection.
